Fish
Food (and Fun) In School Holidays
About
Through the foodbank and as part of food poverty network, the issue of hunger in the community became evident to us.
Schools aren’t open during the school holidays and school children don’t get free school meals during this time, and this led us to start FISH.
FISH stands for Food and Fun In School Holidays, and does exactly that.
One day every week in school holidays, we offer free food and entertainment at Blackthorn Primary School. It isn’t exclusive to those who attend the school, local tots groups and other families come along to be fed and entertained.
We have had Chronicle and Echo reporting on this and Look East came and filmed us highlighting the needs of the community.
We are trying to double the number of volunteers.
